New French Song Two: Join us for New French Song Two- and more!
Following our two initial concerts of the New French Song (2) programme we are delighted to invite you to our next concert, at Clare College Cambridge, on Monday 17th March at 1.15pm (45 minutes, includes the complete New French Song (2) plus a selection of songs by Chaminade, Tailleferre and Bracquemond).
The composers of the new songs are: Deirdre Gribbin, Shirley J. Thompson, Cecilia McDowall, Emily Hall, Joanna Forbes-L’Estrange, Millicent B. James, Lesley-Jane Rogers, Kerry Andrew, Helen Neeves, Grainne Mulvey. All wonderful composers who have set Alison’s selection of French poetry from the last 8 centuries.
You might also want to book us to perform in your own concert - at your venue, for your audience, we bring our music to you. Contact Alison to discuss!
We also offer educational events - including a ‘talking and listening’ session on the fusion of words and music.
This recital programme by established duo Smart Fisher and Durran brings together French songs by female composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, setting their own poetry, with a brand new set of French songs commissioned by Alison Smart Fisher. The ten new songs are by British female/non-binary composers, setting female poets from the past 8 centuries. They tell the story of awakening love within the frame of the natural world. Join us in celebration of this exciting new addition to the song repertoire. There were two very successful concerts in September 2024 in the presence of the composers:
Sunday 22nd September 2024 at Moffat Distillery, Dumfriesshire, DG10 9FE at 7.30pm.
Wednesday 25th September 2024 at Burgh House, New End Square, Hampstead, London NW3 1LT at 7.30pm
