Alison Smart Fisher is a singers’ conductor. It all makes sense because she lets the musicians and the music breathe.

Alison is a singer and choral conductor, creative teacher and mentor, based in London UK. Her performing and teaching experience enriches every musical encounter.

Directing

Alison, an accomplished choir director, leads three choirs and is dedicated to fostering music in the community. With a meticulous yet inclusive approach, she creates captivating musical experiences. Alison is known for her imaginative programming and passion for contemporary music, having commissioned pieces from British composers. She also directs the Young Voices Festival for the Royal School of Church Music.

Educating

Alison, an experienced teacher, draws on her extensive performing background to provide students with a holistic learning experience for speech and song. She fosters an easy atmosphere for physical learning, tailoring repertoire to suit vocal range, age, and stylistic preferences. Alison's teaching has empowered students to successfully audition for prestigious opportunities, such as Genesis 16, Oxford University scholarships, the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, and London Youth Choir.

Singing

Alison, returning to singing after training as a choral conductor, brings a rich musical background. Starting with choral singing in London and at the Opéra de Lyon, she studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and Trinity College of Music, earning a place in the BBC Singers' soprano lineup. During her 22 years at the BBC, Alison performed extensively, notably in concerts directed by Pierre Boulez. She was also a sought-after oratorio soloist, excelling in Baroque and contemporary works. Alison's warm, clear, and silvery tone suits northern European composers, and her linguistic skills extend to singing in various languages.
